Air Conditioning For Mortdale Homes And Business Premises
Mortdale is mostly post-war brick and tile homes, with newer duplexes, townhouses and unit blocks filling the streets closer to the station. Add the workshops and light industrial units off Boundary Road and Roberts Avenue, and you get two very different sets of heating and cooling problems in the one suburb.
All General Air Conditioning works across both. We handle ducted air conditioning, split system air conditioning, planned air conditioning servicing and replacement air conditioning spare parts, for both residential and commercial properties.
Tell us what the building is and how it gets used, and we will tell you what actually suits it.
Retrofitting Air Conditioning Into Older Mortdale Homes
A lot of Mortdale homes were built long before ducted air conditioning was a standard inclusion. Double brick, tiled roofs, low pitch, and a ceiling cavity that was never designed to carry ductwork.
That does not rule ducted out. It does mean the roof space needs checking properly before anyone quotes a system. We look at pitch height, truss layout, existing insulation, where the return air can sit, and whether every room can be reached without crushing the duct runs. Where the roof space genuinely will not take it, a multi-head split system usually does the job better than a compromised ducted install.
Renovated and extended homes are their own case. A rear extension added twenty years after the original build often has different ceiling heights, different glazing and a very different heat load to the front of the house. Zoning matters more in those homes than in a newer project build.
For the commercial and industrial sites around Boundary Road, the questions change again: run hours, occupancy, roof or ground-mount access for the outdoor unit, and what happens to productivity when the system goes down mid-summer.
